Popular video streaming service Netflix has set age limits on all their videos. Each video is labeled to show what video content viewers of all ages can watch. The general audience does not have to watch any video suitable for adults.
Netflix employees have to watch all the videos according to the catalog to cover the level. They then added age-based labels one by one based on the video’s scenes and dialogue.
Algorithms have been developed considering sexuality, violence and inaudible words. As a result, it will be possible to select age-appropriate videos. The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has provided technical assistance in this work.
BBFC CEO David Austin said that with the age-based labeling of videos, film lovers can now enjoy the videos of their choice with their families.
The British government is committed to ensuring the safe use of new technology for all, said Caroline Dinenage, the UK’s Minister for Digital and Culture.
